Summer Assignment 2007

Part I:
Obtain and read the entire Annotated Mona Lisa  (709 Str)
The Borders on Frontier Drive across from Springfield Mall has ordered this paperback art history book, although you may purchase it anywhere.
Highlight and make margin notes while you read.

Be able to discuss the book and take a quiz in September.

Be able to place subsequent art history information onto the time frame it introduces to you. It should make the first semester go more smoothly for you!


Part II:
Visit the National Gallery of Art in DC or the Metropolitan in NYC.
Take notes and obtain 5 postcards of original artwork you see

For extra credit:
Visit the natural Museum of history's Egyptian/Etruscan/Mesopotamian displays
Take notes and obtain 2 postcards (2 drawings an option)

This book is available for loan from the WSHS Library, which is open
Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 3:30 beginning July 30.
The loan period is 3 weeks, no renewals, with overdue fines of $1 per non-holiday weekday. All Library obligations must be cleared prior to checkout.
